ancient cross on Dartmoor

Maybe you have been to Dartmoor before and remember a place name from your childhood. No need to pore over a
map, just click on the village name above and study each page to easily find accommodation. Dartmoor is widely
known from books written about the Moor. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote the Sherlock Holmes crime novel Hound of the Baskervilles which starts out with the death of Sir Charles Baskerville, a possible Liberal candidate !!

Evelyn Waugh wrote Brideshead Revisited whilst staying at Easton Court now a bed and breakfast, near to Chagford.
The artists William Widgery and his son Frederick John Widgery are both well known for their beautifully fine
watercolour depictions of Dartmoor. Cattle in granite tors scenery and ancient crosses showing a never changing landscape of this magnificent Moorland. I took the picture of the Cross above on Boxing Day last year 2009.
