The bar at this village inn at South Zeal has been open to the public for an amazing 536 years. Landlords Simon and Lyn Powell plan to make it one of the chosen Dartmoor favourites. With fabulous mullioned windows, it is at the very centre of the annual Dartmoor Folk Festival which takes place each August. The newly refurbished bedrooms and bathrooms are all very impressive. Mervyn the cat takes pride of place in the bar. The 4 poster beds are impressive.

Say hello to Karen and the happy staff at the White Hart Hotel. They are keen to welcome you to this elegant Grade II listed building at this important crossroads on the moor. Dating back as far as 1639 when it was a coaching Inn, it has a range of very comfortable bedrooms, no two the same. I especially like the large reception lounge, which is a great place for locals to drop in for a quality coffee. The menu has recently brought up to date and diners can enjoy a local jazz band here some Sunday lunchtimes.
This B&B is perfectly placed for some of the most fabulous local walks with names to places such as Dippy Copse, Coledridge Wood, Langland Wood, Butterdon Ball Wood and nearby Steps Bridge in the stunning River Teign Gorge. Only open from April to October and well off the beaten track, that track to the house being well BUMPY BUT WORTH THE EFFORT. The website doesn't do it justice, as it is one of Devon's hidden gems. Two heavenly bedrooms both with private bathrooms. Occasional suppers on request and lots of good eating places around.
