This lovely former workers cottage in Sticklepath, Dartmoor, sleeps up to 6 in 3 double/twin bedrooms. Situated just on the edge of the village so you can sit in the garden and listen to the birds in the woods (owls at bed time!) but you are only a minutes walk from all the facilities...perfect for the pubs, shops, the National Trust Finch Foundry and cafes...and of course the walks. It's a perfect balance, in a few minutes you're at the Tarka Trail that follows along the Skaigh Valley, then upwards to the high moors.

This whole cottage in the country is available to let, OR you can book just the ground floor. On site are productive glasshouses and stock, sheep, ponies called Juniper and Jester, ducks and hens, ideal for visiting children. With a very strong self sufficiency ethic they sell surplus fruit and vegetables to lucky visitors. The Hemphouse has a delightful open-plan living room, kitchen and dining area, fronted with beautiful windows looking out over the valley towards Brentor. Situated in a smallholding where Chris and Ruth have their own chickens, goats, horses and sheep and lead a very sustainable way of life. The Hemphouse has one single bedroom downstairs, with an en suite toilet and shower room. This room also contains the washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, the landing area is bookended by a double bedroom on one end, and a twin bedroom on the other. There is one upstairs bathroom with sink, toilet and bath. “These are basic, without frills, solid and worthy lets. The curtains may well be slightly faded, but the welcome from Ruth and Chris is completely genuine.
