Lustleigh within the beautiful Wray Valley.

Lustleigh is one of the prettiest villages on Dartmoor. It has THE most impressive May Day celebrations each year with village children parading through the village behind a local brass band, and finishing up in a local playing field for the traditional crowning of the May Queen, impressive maypole dancing, duck races, stalls and Devonshire Cream teas.

Gravestones underfoot in the church date back to 1600 and whilst there check out the beautiful stained glass windows. The village is my top selection for anyone seeking a traditionally English scene. Thankfully Lustleigh itself is not teeming with accommodation but these below are all within a 10 minute drive.

Head off in a North Easterly direction from Lustleigh and you will soon notice signposts for North Bovey. It's worth finding.
This is one of those hidden in the countryside gems that Devon is famous for.
