Moretonhampstead

Moreton as we locals know it, is a crossroad town on the A382. It's a busy little place in the Summer months with
muchto commend it. It seems there is bunting aloft for a large part of the season, whether to announce the coming
of the wonderful annual carnival in August, or for the Moreton food fair in March.
Don't miss a quick look a the almshouses (national Trust) in Court Street, a short walk from the centre.
There a dispensing chemist, next to the pub in the photo above, a Co-op supermarket, a good butcher and several
tea rooms, my favourite of which is the Dartmoor Tearoom also in Court Street, the street that takes you to Exeter
by a very pretty route through Dunsford.

In a small hamlet away from busy traffic. B&B on a working farm. Trudie has been a landlady for many years and knows the ropes.
Good food. Twin room, double room and a four poster bedroom. It's very much a patchwork quilt sort of place.

In the heart of the town. There is a small hotel car park close by. Very comfortable bars and good standard restaurant.
Very nice sunny area at the rear of the hotel for sitting out in the warmer weather. Jazz played here in the Summer.
