North Bovey. Any photo of North Bovey is worthy of calendar material.
It's a truly chocolate box village in the heart of Dartmoor. Watching the swallows weaving in and out of the trees, just above ground level on the village green in the late afternoon will be a lasting memory for me.
Do visit the church, St. John the Baptist. With a magnificent arched vaulted ceiling and a 15th century carved screen.
I took the wedding photos for a local girl here in 1998 and was staggered at how beautiful the inside of the church is.
In the summer you might find sheep in the churchyard. The country way of keeping the grass down.
Walk along this same road to the river Bovey and indulge in a paddle in the shallow water by the picturesque walkway at the side of country meadows. Great walk of around 8 miles from the
village to Manaton, through, and then eastwards to Nutcracker Rocks, on to Hunter Tor then Barne court before walking back into North Bovey.
A good map will show you the route, and the shorter circular walk within that walk.

At the end of a very quiet lane. Charming barn conversion with excellent cook Jenny. Chicken keeping courses on offer.
Great feedback from guests who have been well taken care of. Ideal for children to stroke woolly lambs in Springtime.
