Thursday 7th August Every 1st Thursday of the month. ¯¯ Blues at The Wharf, Tavistock. Devon Blues Band SmokeStack, are resident. Come and listen, or join in. Amplifiers, etc provided, bring your own instrument. Blues at The Wharf has been going for a year and has developed into Devon's Best Blues Club, with superb music and a wonderful atmosphere. Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th August 11am – 5pm Castle Drogo does The Olympics To mark the start of the Olympics, why not come along and take part in Drogo’s own version? Take part in the various exciting challenges such as cream tea eating competition and the tweed dressing time trials, as well as much, much more. Phone for details and timings. Saturday 16th August 9 'til 1.30p.m. Held on the third Saturday of every month Okehampton Farmers' Market, centre of the town around St James' Chapel square.The Market has 20 stalls of local foods & crafts. You will find pork and pork products, free range
  chicken, venison, ostrich meat and products, lamb, beef and game in season. Fresh fish (weather permitting) and beer. Luxury pâtés, cheeses, preserves, honey, apple juices and cider. Bread, cakes and chocolates. Vegetables and fruit in season. Free range eggs, yogurt. Herbs, herbaceous and perennial plants. Saturday 16th August Whiddon Down Annual village fete with all the usual English outdoor stalls, refreshments, cakes, etc.
 

Thursday 18th August  CHAGFORD SHOW. Best all round Dartmoor family show. Horses, cattle, horticultural. Photo competition open to all comers, horses, sheep, cattle, dog show, bouncy castle, ice creams, vintage tractors, carriage riding, heavy horses on show and a marching band... not to mention the wonderful Tony Beard, the horticultural tent, a scarecrow competition.
