Peter Tavy on the western edge of Dartmoor off the A386.
With an excellent pub in this village - the Peter Tavy Inn, you are spoilt for meal choices.
Tavistock town is a 10 minute drive away where you will find a colourful indoor market,
and sports facilities. Check out the swimming pool page for more information.
Camping fans will appreciate the attractive campsite right on the river's edge at Harford Bridge.
3 miles out of Tavistock, Susie Pope offers bed and breakfast in a wing of her lovely home. I loved it
and immediately added it to my honeymoon suggestions page. A beautiful dual aspect double room with a cute smaller twin room
beyond. Private bathroom recently updated. Your own front door, that opens on to the sunniest of balconies overlooking the pretty
garden, full of established trees, primroses, bluebells, daffodils and plenty of birdsong going on as I walked round. Breakfast
is served within the house in a cosy little sitting room. Walks out on to the Moor and foodie places around. Very nice indeed.
The master bedroom is £70 for two per night. Taken as 2 rooms the cost is £80 for two singles. Taken as a family suite the charge is £110 per night.
Old fashioned courtesy in a quiet country house. Lovely garden especially at rhododendron time. Off road parking, and an easy drive to Tavistock. The Peter Tavy Inn is just up the road for handy evening meals. Dogs by arrangement but not in the house.

I have just visited this accommodation and it's friendly owners. It's a good cheap and cheerful cottage where a baby is welcome.
High-chair, cot, stair gate and babysitting on offer. And no charge at all for up to 2 dogs. Off road parking for 2 cars. Own certified
water supply. Ruth and Chris are totally into self sufficiency and will readily explain their sustainability projects -

2 bedroom and 3 bedroom timber clad lodges in this quiet quality campsite in a most picturesque setting alongside the River Tavy
A delightful family run site which has 125 pitches for camping + touring caravans, some static caravans and these 2 upmarket
lodges. I went along to see inside them in cold January this year and was very impressed. They are modern, warm and spacious, light
and spotlessly clean. Very swish indeed. Well equipped with everything from microwave to outside folding chairs to make the most
of the relaxing verandah. Cox Tor has a family bathroom with shower and bath, and there is an ensuite shower room in the double
bedroom. Electricity and bed linen included - just bring your own towels and tea towels. The kids will love
the playpark and the riverbank. Everyone loves the resident ducks. Fly fishing available. I was very impressed - Jill
The Hemphouse has a delightful open-plan living room, kitchen and dining area, fronted with beautiful windows looking out over the valley towards Brentor. Situated in a smallholding where Chris and Ruth have their own chickens, goats, horses and sheep and lead a very sustainable way of life. The Hemphouse has one single bedroom downstairs, with an en suite toilet and shower room. This room also contains the washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, the landing area is bookended by a double bedroom on one end, and a twin bedroom on the other. There is one upstairs bathroom with sink, toilet and bath. “These are basic, without frills, solid and worthy lets. The curtains may well be slightly faded, but the welcome from Ruth and Chris is completely genuine. They want you to share their way of life, get close to their much loved livestock, go out and discover Dartmoor for yourself. Stay here and you will have a taste of the Good Life"
