Friday 10th September 11.30am – 3pm Spick and Span. Is elbow grease better than Mr Sheen? Drop in to Castle Drogo and discover how housekeeping has changed over the last 100 years and whether we can learn anything from the scullery maids of yesteryear. The conservation team will be cooking up some pungent historic cleaning recipes as well as demonstrating how we do things today. Normal admission prices apply.

Saturday 18th September 9 'til 1p.m Okehampton farmers market has over 20 stalls in the centre of town on the third Saturday of each month. When the weather is right, there is a fresh fish stall, and every week you can buy locally produced meat, free range chicken, venison, bread and cider along with vegetables, herbs and yogurt. Saturday 25th September Village Market usually the 4th Saturday of the month 9.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.The market is held in the Church House, Widecombe-in-the-Moor, owned by The National Trust. With a wide range of produce, from olives, olive oil to locally grown vegetables and plants. Saturday 25th September to Sunday 26th September 11am-5pm WW2 Event Vehicles, displays and re-enactments from the Military Vehicle Trust recreate the atmosphere of war time Britain. There will be a weapons demonstration at 12 noon and battle re-enactment at 2.30pm by the MVT each day. Step back in time and follow the family trail to find out what life was like as a war time evacuee at Castle Drogo. Normal admission prices apply and £2 per child for family trail.
Sunday 26th September In Lewtrenchard, just off Dartmoor, a garden open for the RNLI charity. Coombe Trenchard, home of Mr and Mrs. Marsh. On the side of a hill overlooking the Lew valley, the gardens offer ancient yews, oaks and beeches. Bridges, pathways and different garden rooms. Water gardens recovered from decline. Edwardian planting scheme recovered and improved. Gardeners will love it. Refreshments available - proceeds to local charity. Open from 2 to 5 in the afternoon.
