Lower Hookner Barn

Whether you are looking for a relaxing break, or a base
to explore the surrounding countryside, come and stay in
this ancient barn at the very end of a single track road
deep in the heart of Dartmoor.

Two famous footpaths, the Two Moors Way and the Mariner’s
Way, pass closeby offering access to the open moor and
surrounding villages where you can enjoy a hearty pub lunch.

Visit the fields at the rear of the barn where we keep a small flock
of Exmoor Horn sheep.  Lambing usually takes place between
February and April. Our happy hens are all free range
and we welcome children to help collect eggs for breakfast.
Tea and home made cake are ready for your arrival,
either served in the sunny garden or by the roaring fire.

Three bedrooms -1 double with private bathroom and access on
to a minstrel’s gallery overlooking the guest sitting room and
1 single (shares the upstairs bathroom with the same party)
also suitable for two children as a twin.

The guest sitting room has a wood burning stove,
comfy sofas, books, games, television and music.
There are tea and coffee making facilities in each bedroom.

Jenny is an excellent cook and tries to use local and organic produce.
She can prepare a simple supper or high tea but please ask
in advance. We are not licensed but are happy for you to
bring
your own wine.
Jenny also provides delicious packed lunches.

Bed and Breakfast - £29 per person per night
reducing to £27 per person for 3 or more nights
