Dartmoor Devon B&B's, Hotels, Self-catering, Camping & Youth Hostels and Camping Barns Child friendly camping and hostels. Ideal family accommodation in Devon
It's best to check before you book, that the campsite you want really does like taking children. The best campsites for kids are those that have plenty of large open spaces for children to have fun. One of the campsites listed on my website will not entertain a child of any age at all, not even a babe in arms, because they specifically want to appeal to older clients who like to read the paper and doze off in the afternoon, but families who like making friends on holiday and prefer to be able to stay on the campsite all day should first check out the websites thoroughly to see exactly what facilities are on offer. These photos above are ones I took at the River Dart Country Park this year. It is absolutely
This is a quiet little site and is ideal for outdoor families. It has electic hook ups, toilets and showers. It's a good base for seeing the area. It's a toss up in distance as to which is the closest, the swimming pool at Okehampton or the one at Tavistock. and net in one of rock pools on one of Devon's many beaches which are all within less than an hour's drive from Dartmoor. Logs in the forest, sit on the front and it becomes a bus to ride. Search in the nooks and crannies to find all manner of bugs to watch. Take the kids up onto the Moor as evening falls to a high place, maybe with a flask of hot soup and let them watch how beautiful it all gets as the sun goes down. I'm not going to tell you about not staring into the sun and watch out for boggy places and all the other gibberish that this Nanny state insists on.
