The Post Inn at Whiddon Down is handy for the A30 dual carriageway, the main route down into Cornwall from here.
So ideal for an overnight stay to break your journey. 2 double rooms one en-suite, and one en-suite twin room.
New mine hosts Bob and Mandy have recently taken over and this is now a good food pub. Do read my food review.

This B&B at Whiddon Down is run by Rosemary, a farmer's wife. She knows all about cooking for healthy appetites.
At the end of a lane, it has a good garden for children to run about in, with views towards Dartmoor.

3 miles from Ashburton. One room on offer, a double with en-suite. A friendly labrador lives here.... your dog is welcome too. There is another room, a twin which can be taken if same group as it is then a shared bathroom.
Four people in these 2 rooms is only £90 which is very good value indeed. Only £22.50 per head.

Juliette's light and airy home on this working farm in the quaint village of Manaton in the heart of Dartmoor. Plus stabling for your horse £7 per night. Walk straight out onto the Moor,and take a look at Bowerman's Nose that you can see on the horizon from the house. There is also a weekly self catering cottage that sleeps 5, so all in all Juliette can take a party of up to 11 guests.

What super people Sue and Trevor are. Comfy house with large bedrooms, warm as toast, great pictures. Family room with 2 double beds. Bags of style, chickens to feed, ponies, garden and views. One of my favourite places. Steven Spielberg filmed War Horse in this area of the Moor (film crew stayed at Pixeycombe) and he said "I have never before, in my long and eclectic career, been gifted with such an abundance of natural beauty as I experienced filming War Horse on Dartmoor".

Old fashioned courtesy in a quiet country house. Lovely garden especially at rhododendron time. Off road parking, and an easy drive to Tavistock. The Peter Tavy Inn is just up the road for handy evening meals. Dogs by arrangement but not in the house.

Spreyton is just a five minute drive from the A30 dual carriageway into Cornwall. Denis and Jan are fairly new to bed and breakfast, but one plus factor they have is that the Tom Cobley Inn, famed in the Widecombe Fair song, is just a stone's throw away.
The Cobbles offers double and twin rooms. I have yet to pop along and say hello to them, but my hairdresser lives
in Spreyton, so it won't be long until I do.

We received a nice warm welcome from Sally at Princetown. She offers 2 doubles plus a well equipped separate annexe to come and go as you please. As a family room under 5's free, £5 for kids 6 - 11, £10 for 12 to 18 years. Prices reduced for longer stays.
