With a king size bed under oak beams and beautiful country garden plus small lake, this has to be one of my top recommendations for a romantic honeymoon on Dartmoor. Very large garden with pond (toddlers and very young children would need supervision). The ground floor accommodation would be excellent for anyone in a wheelchair, provided the one step at the front door can be negotiated. It has especailly wide folding doors between the private sitting room and the double bedroom. There is a power shower in the bathroom, but it is within the bath, so here again, some thought must be given as to whether this is going to suit. Helpful owner keen for you to enjoy your stay. Wendy and Dennis are horse friendly folk, so livery is available. This is a place for just 2 adults with a very definite non smoking rule. The living room and bedroom are both up steep stairs, so NO CHILDREN and it would be difficult for the less able bodied. The drive is not smooth, but the let is right on the Two Moors Way and the Mariner's Way so would be an excellent base. Dogs by arrangement with the owners. This one has 1 double bedroom and a bunk bedded room with a 2'6" wide bed and a proper drop sided cot with a travel cot available. All cottages share the use of a 29' long indoor pool. I have visited these cottages, and this one is what I would describe as cosy but adequate. This is a great place for young families to meet others. Babysitting is on offer. I visited in October 2010 and was very impressed with the house and what Jane has done with her home. It has a very fresh Country Living feel with welcoming touches throughout. An ideal choice if you are planning to start the Two Moors Way walk from south to North. Washing up area, laundry with drying room, excellent disabled facilities plus kitchen and showers.     Not strictly speaking within the Dartmoor National Park, but right on the very edge of the Moor and close to the A38. I visited the pub to carry out a food review and was so impressed with the bed and breakfast rooms on offer, at such good prices, that I am only too pleased to have the pub on board.     I paid a visit to Penny at Brook Farmhouse and absolutely loved it! Ancient thatched farmhouse full of charm. Homemade biscuits to have with your tea. Easy access into Exeter. I thought that it had only one bedroom on offer, but actually there are three bedrooms which Penny will only let to one party, so it is most frequently used just as a double. Apart from the huge main bedroom there is spacious double and a child's bedroom, again with a double bed on offer. They share a bathroom, but it's a great space at the top of your own private, steep, charming staircase plus your own roomy guest lounge.     This campsite is 12 miles off Dartmoor. I'm adding it because it's really worth a mention. To start with it's ADULTS ONLY, set in a secluded woodland and the guys who run it have a great attitude to their surroundings. It's tents only and you are encouraged to make your own campfire. Each pitch has it's own fire pit and fire bench, and for just £6 you can buy a campfire kit with kindling and seasoned wood from their own resources. This is the latest self catering on my website, and I have yet to visit, but I know that the owners have good repeat bookings, and that it is a barn conversion with good views that will sleep 6 and take a baby. Ruth Boswell tells me that the barn is very family friendly rather than chic accommodation, and looking at the prices I see that it is very competitively priced - the highest charge in the school holidays is just £599 and as low as only £270 in the low season. Babysitting on offer and stairgate, highchair and cot on request. Bed linen is included in the price but towels are extra. Some electricity (90 units) is included in the rental then charged.
