Dartmoor
 Accommodation

The Coach House self catering on Dartmoor in Devon.

Jill Pendleton's review of this self catering cottage near to Widecombe near to Hamel Down on Dartmoor.

Hilary the owner of the Coach House at Pitt Park in Widecombe is not too keen on this photo, she prefers one that
has the drive that you can't see behind the snowdrops, but I think it shows the granite cottage off rather well.

But that has not spoilt my impression of this self cater sleeps 5 granite cottage not far from Widecombe in the heart
of Dartmoor. Hilary has equipped the cottage for families to visit, with toys and books and swings in the garden.

This is the main bedroom which has a spacious feel with high pine ceiling and view out of the window (large window

as seen left in the top picture). All bedrooms are on the first floor along with the large sitting room.

The pretty single room is ideal for Granny and the bunk bedroom below, gets plenty of light from a large velux window.

The bathroom and well equipped kitchen are on the ground floor where there is a table in the hall by the

stable door. There is a cake waiting for your arrival. Check out the picture of the choccy choice below.

Parking is off road, and talking of road, go out of the gate, turn left and find the local footpath onto Hamel Down
if you want to find some Dartmoor ponies grazing. A great place for children to let off steam. Take a picnic and play

hunt the welly with hunt the thimble rules. Hilary recommends this as the perfect place to see the sun go down.

There's a wood burner in the sitting room and lots of books and cd's to curl up with.

This is a good place to spend quality time with youngsters. Hilary's own children have horses, so bring a bag of

carrots with you as horsey treats to lean over the fence with.

Dogs are welcome at Pitt Park with a small charge, and this is perfect for doggy walks in every direction.

The Rugglestone pub is in the village, and they are happy for you to have your mut at your feet as you taste the local

ale or sit out with the kids in the garden by the stream. The food is well worth the stroll..

Hilary has 2 dogs herself and Harvey seen here on the right is a total character. Everyone loves Harvey.
When he's not staring up into Hilary's face, then he is darting about the garden checking everything out.

Free range eggs are for sale when there is a surplus. Check out the cockerel's impressive spurs...!
