Jane the secretary bird and I were in severe need of what we call a jolly. That is to say, an escape from the
office to go and have a look at one of our accommodation providers in order to bring ourselves up to date with

how they currently look and operate, so on the 24th of April, because Julia at the Old Coffee House
had recently asked if she might come aboard, off we dashed down in the car to find her in Ashburton.

I had been in the tearoom several years ago to do a food review on it for the Dartmoor magazine, so I did know the
layout, but hadn't seen any of the bedrooms as in those days, with previous owners, it hadn't been a B&B.

Clive and Julia have busied themselves by adding smart en-suite shower rooms to all of the rooms. And each
bedroom is spacious with tea tray, and television. Wireless internet is also available and Julia offers an occasional
evening meal in the licensed tearoom below. Whilst we were there she offered us a generous top quality coffee.

My latte was excellent. This was a morning when the ladies who do the church flowers were in for coffee and they
were all fully enjoying the food. There are over 10 different blends of tea on offer along with a Full English
for bed and breakfast guests, and Julia is happy to serve a vegetarian alternative.

One big plus factor about the Old coffee House, is that it has a dedicated single en-suite room. See above. It's nice
and bright and at the back of the house away from any traffic noise. Not that there is a great deal of passing
traffic. Just next door is the beautiful churchyard of St. Andrews, which has some impressive trees, and is
very handy if you want to sit in the sunshine with your newspaper. A short stroll away from Ashburton centre.
