Foodies know this; the Dartmoor Tearooms at Moretonhampstead is one of the best tearooms on the Moor.
And that George in the kitchen is an excellent chef. He shakes his head when I refer to him thus, saying that he is
just a cook.... Not so George! He knows more about food than 4 chefs marinated together in a bowlful of Michelin stars. He's passionate about ingredients, and successfully cooks local ingredients into quality meals at sensible prices.
Moreton can count itself very fortunate to offer the tearooms as one of it's food outlets. Front of house is equally good.
The waiting on staff are all of the 'yes we can do that' variety. The main room is relaxing for any weary walker or
cyclist, and you could equally take your maiden aunt along to be impressed by the 32 different teas on offer.
The washroom facilities are good. There is a small overspill area where you can watch the coffee being prepared,
daily papers are on offer and it's got a most pleasant almost bistro, comfy feel to the place.
Add to that the fact that they have some really good ales and wine on offer....

Rock on George !!
