Hooks Cottage is not cutting edge modern, more traditional Devonshire. Mary offers 2 bedrooms for B&B. A double and a twin room with a Jack and Jill (between the rooms) bathroom. Separate loo. Although this property is not far from the A38, the dual carriageway junction is over 2 miles distant and the final stretch of the journey takes you into woodlands and the owner's large pretty garden. Meet the friendly dogs, cat and ponies.

Bed and breakfast rooms available on a minimum 2 day stay basis. Nine en-suite bedrooms in the main house and nine further en-suite rooms in the adjacent Coach House. The Victoria Inn at Ashburton now has new mine hosts Shane and Margaret. The pub offers one double, one twin and two family room, one for a family of three and one for a family of four, all of which have been recently refurbished. Not strictly speaking within the Dartmoor National Park, but right on the very edge of the Moor and close to the A38. I visited the pub to carry out a food review and was so impressed with the bed and breakfast rooms on offer, at such good prices, that I am only too pleased to have the pub on board. One double and one double/family room, both with snazzy new shower rooms en-suite.

This stunning country house was designed by Clough Williams-Ellis (famous for Portmeirion). Tennis court, so bring your tennis shoes. I went to visit Maddy in April last year and loved it. Two twin or double rooms upstairs plus a large suite at garden level that can be privately entered from the garden. Maddy can accommodate children in this suite and it is all fairly well self contained.

Lemonford Caravan Park in Devon where dogs are welcome, is now open all year round. They welcome dogs and children.
Handy for the A38 dual carriageway with easy access, so no worries about travelling on smaller Dartmoor lanes.

A low key campsite for families and those not seeking the more organised sites. Play area for toddlers. Picnic table, large sloping field with a view of the Moors. Very close to the A38 (come off at the Trago turn, then drive through small village of Liverton, back over the dual carriage way, then soon on your left) Small toilet block. No slot machines - yippee!
