Brentor Near Tavistock - on the fringe of Moor.

Climb to the top of Brentor, which can be seen for miles. It's worth it because you get a fabulous view of Dartmoor,
most of Plymouth Sound and out to sea, Exmoor in the distance and a great swathe of East Cornwall.
The church of St. Michael de Rupe is on the summit. Visit on a wet day and your heart will drop.... but climb up in time for a glorious sunset and I guarantee you will never forget the experience. Ideal area for visiting Lydford Gorge, Cotehele, Buckland Abbey if you are a National Trust fan, and Morwellham Quay, Plymouth and Tavistock and of course the whole
of Dartmoor National Park. The Garden House, my favourite Dartmoor garden is closeby.

Cosy detached cottage for 2 plus cot on a quiet Moorland lane. Available for short breaks November to Easter. Small charge for dogs taken by arrangement. Shower room, separate loo, parking. Linen included. 'Come and see the stars!' I recommended The Smithy to Teresa a Dartmoor Accommodation customer in February this year (2011), and visited her at the property.
It was just what I was expecting. Snug, very well presented and comfortable. Teresa was delighted with the home made cake on arrival and Sally's honest reading of the electricity meter !
