Lustleigh within the beautiful Wray Valley.

Lustleigh is one of the prettiest villages on Dartmoor. It has THE most impressive May Day celebrations each year with village children parading through the village behind a local brass band, and finishing up in a local playing field for the traditional crowning of the May Queen, impressive maypole dancing, duck races, stalls and Devonshire Cream teas.

Gravestones underfoot in the church date back to 1600 and whilst there check out the beautiful stained glass windows. The village is my top selection for anyone seeking a traditionally English scene. Click to read my food review of the thatched Primrose Cottage cafe which sits in the heart of it all by the village green. Utterly charming.
The Cleave Inn is the only pub in the village. It serves excellent food. Click the link to read my November '09 review.

New onto my website in October this year, I have yet to visit Eastwrey Barton, although I've driven past dozens of times and often thought what a perfect location for a hotel this is, high in the Wray Valley on Dartmoor's quieter side of the open Moorland.
The colours here in Autumn are just heavenly. It's a country hotel with evening dining and a licenced bar, gardens to enjoy the view and I have only heard good things about it. Please note that these are not my photos,
but as soon as I called in to say hello, I shall, of course, be adding some of my own.

Lustleigh area Self Catering Accommodation

This cottage is one of 4 that the owner offers to holidaymakers. This one has 1 double bedroom and a bunk bedded room with a 2'6" wide bed and a proper drop sided cot with a travel cot available. All cottages share the use of a 29' long indoor pool. I have visited these cottages, and this one is what I would describe as cosy but adequate. This is a great place for young families to meet others. Babysitting is on offer. The website shows the good play area.
