Okehampton on the North Western corner of Dartmoor.

Just off the A30 dual carriageway. Walkers can walk straight onto the moor at Okehampton.
It's a proper town with a modern hospital, banks, hospital, 2 chemists, several pubs, small shops and 3 major supermarkets, Waitrose, Lidl and the Co-op. Okehampton has a modern indoor swimming pool with a fitness group and exercise studio, sports hall, dance and tennis courts in Simmons Park.

Okehampton holds a busy annual agricultural show, which this year 2012 will be on Thursday 9th August with horses,
cattle and sheep shows, vintage tractors and classic cars, miniature ponies, rabbits in hutches and even pigeons!
A food hall, craft tent, trade stands, dog show and tug of war competions, it's a traditional farming community show.
Okehampton Carnival will be on October 16th with children's procession and an evening procession.Okehampton station with a steam train at the platform.
The Victorian railway station is largely intact and well worth a visit. Travel on one of the trains on Saturday, Sunday
and on Bank Holiday Mondays. The train journey down to Meldon Quarry from Okehampton Station is most enjoyable.
Later on in the year and just in time for Christmas, the town will hold an Edwardian Evening on Thursday
December 9th with carol singing, Morris dancing and a chestnut roast.

The farmhouse at Lobhill in full sunshine. This is a well organised Country Living feel house not far from Okehampton in Devon.A very pretty and romantic bedroom which has its own balcony overlooking the garden, at the Lobhill Farmhouse at Lewdown.overlooking the pond in the dleightful garden at Lobhill Farmhouse Bed and breakfast. There is a summerhouse in the garden for guests which is just out of shot.This is a double room with a good sized en-suite shower room at Lobhill B&B not far from Okehampton.

Just a short drive off Dartmoor, Lobhill Farmhouse is a charming B&B. I visited in October 2010 and was very impressed with the house and what Jane has done with her home. It has a very fresh Country Living feel with welcoming touches throughout. There is a ground floor double room with it's own access which is ideal for a wheelchair. This B&B is within walking distance of Jethro's.

A good choice for walkers, this converted stone stable is well equipped including a washer/dryer. Private decking area to enjoy the large garden, lake and pond with vineyard in view. Bath and shower. t.v., dvd player, cd etc. It is 3 miles beyond Dartmoor, but with such a super rural setting, I am including it for you to consider. I need to visit this let myself, I will report back when I do !!
