Peter Tavy
The two things I like about Peter Tavy on the western edge of Dartmoor are the very good pub
The Peter Tavy Inn which was build in the 15th century, and Churchtown Bed and Breakfast run by Major Lane and
his wife Noreen. The food is very good at the pub. I wrote a food review for the Dartmoor Magazine some years ago,
which was all good, and the place is the same today. It's recommended by all of the best pub guides and rightly so.
Churchtown B&B is a B&B that I recommend to folks wanting to visit local gardens, as there are hundreds of daffodils
here in Spring and camelias thrive. Look out for lots of butterflies. Tavistock town is a 10 minute drive away where
you will find a colourful market, and sports facilities. Check out our swimming pool page for more information.
Camping fans will appreciate the attractive campsite right on the river's edge at Harford Bridge. See below.
Peter Tavy area Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

Old fashioned courtesy in a quiet country house. Lovely garden especially at rhododendron time. Off road parking, and an easy drive to Tavistock. The Peter Tavy Inn is just up the road for handy evening meals. Dogs by arrangement but not in the house.

Peter Tavy area Self Catering Accommodation

This is the latest self catering on my website, and I have yet to visit, but I know that the owners have good repeat bookings, and that it is a barn conversion with good views that will sleep 6 and take a baby. Ruth Boswell tells me that the barn is very family friendly rather than chic accommodation, and looking at the prices I see that it is very competitively priced - the highest charge in the school holidays is just £599 and as low as only £270 in the low season. Babysitting on offer and stairgate, highchair and cot on request. Bed linen is included in the price but towels are extra. Some electricity (90 units) is included in the rental then charged. I intend to visit the property as soon as I can get out of the office.... so will report back when I do.

Winter breaks are on offer for £151 for 3 nights and £39 any extra nights. Or £270 per week throughout January.

A holiday let for 4 full of granite and wood. Some electricity foc and an energy log boiler. Well behaved dog welcome. I have yet to visit this property and will add a review as soon as I do so. It sounds like a cheap and cheerful cottage where you are welcome to take a baby. Highchair, cot, stairgate and babysitting on offer. And no charge at all for up to 2 dogs.Off road parking for 2 cars. Own water supply, certified. These owners are into self sufficiency, so will readily chat about their sustainability projects - PVs, solar thermals, log boiler system and methan gas collection.
