Yelverton
Think about Yelverton and your mind takes you to a small roundabout between Tavistock and Plymouth, with a row of rather nice Victorian villas placed to the North with their sunny faces forever watching the traffic going by. On the opposite side of the roundabout, on a sliproad, you will find a row of shops which seems to be the centre of the 'town'. Actually this is a good spot for walking the nearby Roborough Downs and the utterly fabulous Burrator Reservoir and it is on the main bus route from Tavistock into Plymouth. There's a paperweight museum at Yelverton, and something I found fascinating is, that if you visit Yelverton on Google Earth satellite view, you can still see the now grassy, layout of the runways from when it used to be a busy Air Force base during the war. Some of the most stunning countryside is right here, perfect for keen walkers.

What super people Sue and Trevor are. Comfy house with large bedrooms, warm as toast, great pictures. Family room with 2 double beds. Bags of style, chickens to feed, ponies, garden and views. One of my favourite places. Steven Spielberg filmed War Horse in this area of the Moor (film crew stayed at Pixeycombe) and he said "I have never before, in my long and eclectic career, been gifted with such an abundance of natural beauty as I experienced filming War Horse on Dartmoor".
