Wedding receptions on Dartmoor in Devon.

Suggestions of where to hold a reception after your ceremony.
Dartmoor has options to suit every pocket and the joy of a Dartmoor wedding is that
your celebrations will take place in one of the most stunning locations in Britain.

The Dolphin Hotel Bovey Tracey has an excellent room on the first floor that will house a large function.
Along with a spacious bar area downstairs it is a good space to hold a large wedding reception in the Bovey area.
I can imagine that this huge room set up with white linen and some spectacular decorations will look wonderful.
The right hand side of the room in the photo would be my choice for the top table.
At the far end of the room, on the right is a bar for the room. Perfect!

If you have a very small number of guests at the wedding, you might like to have a chat with the people at the Sandy
Park Inn. I have seen their dining room laid up for a private party, and it looked very swish. This is one of the starters.

Why not do what Nathan and Lucy did for their wedding celebrations... they hired a bouncy castle!
Gidleigh Village Hall can be hired for wedding receptions in the country. Basic hall fixtures and fittings,
but good outdoor area with views in a beautiful countryside setting. I have covered a wedding here and liked it very much. Everyone feels a member of one great party, as tables can be laid out to any plan. Read the hall bookings informationif you are interested in hiring a hall for a 'do it yourself wedding'.
What's your idea of the perfect place to hold a wedding reception after the wedding has taken place?
Smart hotel, local pub; most pubs can cater for smaller wedding parties, how about in the local village hall or a
marquee in your own garden if you have the space? Sometimes a larger venue with more guests will work out cheaper
per head, but it is worth visiting a few venues to check that they offer the facilities that you are really looking for.
You can be as involved with the catering as you wish. Most established wedding venues offer a selection of catering
menus from finger buffets to elaborate banquet meals with price ranges frombudget to top of the range, no money spared. Having counted heads and established how many guests
will need to be fed, and decided what time of the day your wedding celebrations will take place, all you have to do then is choose from the set menus on offer.
So go along to the venues with a rough idea of numbers, so that you are able to quote figures.
Hire a marquee at home if you have the space.
We held our daughter Jennifer's wedding at home and enjoyed
every minute. If you don't have space, maybe a neighbour might oblige, or you could ask the Marquee
companies if they know of anyone who might have space in the area you favour.
There are a great many good places to hold a wedding reception on the Moor. Village halls and parish halls can be
hired for wedding celebrations. Go along and view the notice boards to find out the name of the Village Hall
Secretary to find out if the hall is available on the date you want. For instance Gidleigh Village Hall is in the most beautiful setting and can be hired for wedding receptions. It has basic hall fixtures and fittings, but a good tidy
outdoor area with far reaching views . I have covered a wedding here and enjoyed it very much. Everyone feels
a member of one great party, as tables can be laid out to any plan. Read the hall bookings information
