From Saturday 12th March to Monday 25th April Up Close, an exhibition of printmaking from across the UK presented by the Devon Guild of Craftsmen at Bovey Tracey. This will be the first solely 2D exhibition the Jubilee Gallery has mounted since opening in 2004.Selected by Michael Honnor, painter and printmaker and Richard Anderton MA (Printmaking course leader at the University of the West of England) - each exhibitor has worked to the same parameters of frame. It is hoped that each maker will experiment within the prescribed size to produce exciting and widely varying works, allowing visitors to get up close to innovative handmade printmaking. Friday 1st April The Miniature Pony Centre at Moretonhampstead is now open for the 2011 season. Activities such as feeding the animals, pony grooming, collecting the eggs, pony rides putting the donkeys to bed at the end of the afternoon, and pets corner are a delight for children of all ages. Sunday 3rd April from 1.30 to 5.30 Heathercombe, Manaton, Dartmoor. A garden open for the day on behalf of the National Garden Scheme to raise money for charity. Visitors also welcome by appointment.30 acres of varied garden set in tranquil wooded valley 1,000 feet up on Dartmoor. Woodland walks beside streams, ponds and lake. Hundreds of specimen trees, wild daffodils, woodland garden, fernery, extensive bluebells complementing fine collection of rhododendrons, wild flower meadow in orchard of West Country fruit trees, 2 attractive cottage gardens with interesting herbaceous plantings and newly-established bog/stream garden. Saturday 9th April The Dartmoor Acutioneer Spring Auction will be held at The Jubilee Hall in Chagford today. There will be a large collection of Corgi collectibles cars with original boxes in top condition plus jewellery, antiques, porcelain, paintings, medals, militaria, copper and brass, watches, clocks, ceramics and instruments. Thursday 14th April Join the Friends of Andrew's Wood for a day of clearing bramble and scrub from grassland glades. The Habitat Management Day is going ahead at Andrew's Wood nature reserve at Loddiswell starting at 10 am. No experience necessary. Tools, teas and biscuits provided. Saturday 16th April Starting at 1.30 until 4p.m. 'Templer Way Taster' at Haytor Down on Dartmoor. The Devon Wildlife Trust invite you to join them exploring the Dartmoor section of the TemplerWay. A gentle downhill stroll from Haytor Down into the ancient western oak woodland of Yarner Wood in the company of Albert Knott, Reserve Manager, East Dartmoor National Nature Reserve. Tuesday 19th April Manaton village market is held on each third Tuesday of the month where you can buy lots of local goods including cakes, puddings and pies, honey, fresh eggs, cheese, meat from local farms, pork, lamb, bacon, even locally made fudge. Monday 25th April Teignton Fayre Duck Race will be held on Easter Monday at 2.30pm at Fingle Bridge. Please come along and help to support this event. Buy a duck with your name on it and join in the excitement at the duck come down the river from the starting point to the Fingle Bridge Inn. If the weather is warm the ducks will be smiling throughout, and if the weather is wet their wet weather gear will be more than useful !!! See you there.
