From Friday 24th February to Monday 26th March Devon Guild of Craftsmen exhibition 'Tracing the Blueprint'. Free entry to find out about ‘Blaudruck’, the resist printed indigo fabric of Eastern Europe, has a fascinating social history. Using photographs, words, cloth samples and clothing, Tracing the Blueprint describes historic and current craft production in Hungary and how these small white on blue patterns made their way via trade, settlers and the Manchester printers to Southern Africa. Curated by the Devon Guild Member Hilary Burns with Jacqueline Sarsby who is an anthropologist, photographer and oral historian. See more on the Devon Guild website

From Saturday 10th March to Sunday 22nd April "Blue" a free entry exhibition at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen at Bovey Tracey on DartmoorThe colour blue has had great importance throughout craft history, with particular significance to textile and ceramic disciplines. Blue explores the different ways current artists use the colour within their practice. The use of the traditional blue and white gives the works particular points of reference,recognising its roots and heritage in Europe as well as in the Far East. Saturday 10th March Moretonhampstead Festival of Food, Drink and the Arts 2012. Interesting food festival covering most of the town with plenty of stalls offering bread and cakes, chutney and preserves, dairy, meat, game and poultry, pasties and pies, olives and oils, fruit and vegetables. Last year's weather for the festival was cold and damp. I hope the sun shines for them this year ! See you there. See the festival website for more information
Saturday 10th March Tavistock Farmer's Market at Bedford Square. The markets take place on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays each month 9 til 1 Everything on sale is produced locally, meat, cheese, bread and cakes, fresh vegetables, and stallholders are the farmers, growers or producers themselves. There is also an annual Christmas market in December. take a look at the market website or ltake a look at all of the farmer's markets in the Dartmoor area.

Thursday 15th March Daffodils at Hembury near Buckfast, a walk 10am-12.30pm around Hembury Woods to view lent lilies (wild daffodils) and other spring delights (daffodil season can vary). Wear stout shoes. Dogs on leads welcome. Meet at the lower free National Trust car park at Hembury Woods near Buckfast. Saturday 17th March Join in the Workshop Stitch in Blue, a patchwork workshop by Hilary Burns & Sigi Thompson running from 10am to 4pm at the Phoenix Hall, Bovey Tracey. Saturday 17th March On the edge of the Moor at Dunsford starting at 11am, a guided walk led by Pat Bussell to hopefully see wild daffodils at Dunsford nature reserve, near Dunsford off the A382. Meet at the entrance to the reserve on the Exeter side of Steps Bridge (grid ref SX 798 875). Booking essential - for more information call Stephen Carroll after 7pm on 07972 175340. From Saturday 17th March to Sunday 18th March from 1 to 3pm. Create your own beautiful Mothers Day present at Lydford Gorge, near to Okehampton. Come and decorate your own flower pot and choose a beautiful flower to plant and take home for your present to your mum on Mothering Sunday. Activity will be held in a marquee in our orchard. Sunday 18th March Open Mic Night at the Sandy Park Inn, near Chagford from 8.30pm They say it's the best Open Mic in Devon. You can perform in a proper venue with a full PA. Tuesday 20th March Manaton village holds a market on each third Tuesday of the month where you can buy lots of local goods including cakes, puddings and pies, honey, fresh eggs, cheese, meat from local farms, pork, lamb, bacon, even locally made fudge. Get yourselves along to the Parish Hall to find all these goodies. Open from 10.30 to 12.30. Saturday 31st March from 10 to 4pm . Come along to the South West Alpine Flower Show. The Alpine Garden Society Exeter Group will be holding a National flower show with hundreds of alpines and rock plants, at St Lukes High School in Hart's Lane, off Hill Barton Road, Exeter EX1 3RD on the Pinhoe road, next to Sainsbury's.
