Robertson's Organic Cafe and Pizzeria, Tavistock  Tel 01822 612117     website pending

It was suggested to me that we give the new organic veggie cafe in Tavistock a whirl.  I mentioned this fact to another pal who
lives in Tavi and she said she knew of no vegetarian cafes at all in the town, so the minute I finish typing this review, I will drop
her an e-mail so that she can..... read all about it...

Just off the main thoroughfare in quiet Pepper Street, this little 2 room cafe is bright and clean. Wooden floors and pine tables with plenty of
window view for watching the world go by. A peep behind the counter shows a small efficient kitchen and at once the staff are friendly and welcoming.  The guy who owns the place is eager to get us seated, and happy to push 2 tables together as we are a party of 5. 'No problem'
Within minutes I have 2 grievances.  The lunch menu is printed in impossibly small type and the cost of the fruit smoothie is too high in
my opinion..... £3.74  Having said that our party order 3 of them at once and as they are served, a fourth one is presented 'on the house' so
that we others can taste how wonderfully fruity and thick they are.... I have no idea just what is in it. It looks like cold tomato soup, but it
is cool, slightly yoghurty and .....utterly refreshing.  Thank you for that.
A sign on the wall tells us to make a note of our table number and order at the counter.   Fine. 2 choose one pizza, one chooses another and Kenneth and I opt for the Flambeed mushroom and cognac savoury tart which is incredibly good £6 Rob takes the Gourmet Pizza at £5.25.  We both immediately regret our choices when we see how scrummy the avocado wraps look with beansprouts and toasted seeds.
We were surprised to find a teabags floating in the generous teacups, with a little pots to put the discards into, but, hey that is a good idea because I like my tea really strong and I know that not everyone else agrees with me, so they can fish theirs out much sooner...

On a quiet road, only a very short toddle from the main street.  Will we go again ?  I'm sure of it.
