What's Happening On Dartmoor?

Find out what's on on Dartmoor through the year including Farmer's Markets, pub quizzes, amateur dramatics, a toy collector's fair, the Dartmoor Folk Festival at South Tawton, Chagford and Okehampton agricultural shows, exhibitions, folk evenings, jazz, National Trust events, carnivals, firework displays and scarecrow days.

Foodies can enjoy interesting curry nights and the Moretonhampstead Food Festival every March. If you're a sporty type, you won't want to miss Chagford's Two Hills Race or the National Bike Week in June. Those with musical talent should know about the Ashburton Blues Festival and various open mike pub nights.

​Chagstock Music happening is in Chagford during July. We have antique fairs, auctions, flower shows, gardens open for charity and guided walks. Charity events such as Sports relief Day, and the details for Dartmoor Discovery. Annual events such as May Day at Lustleigh, Easter egg trails, Halloween events, Bonfire Night and firework displays, Carnivals in early Autumn, not to mention Apple Day in October. St. Clement's Day and Christmas dates as well as theatres and cinema links.  Even a blacksmith day.

This year Meavy Oak Fair is on Saturday 18th June. This traditional village fair has something for everyone and is a great afternoon out for the whole family. Highlights include traditional cream teas, opening pageant by the children of Meavy School, Fun Dog Show, games including the coconut shy, skittles and Hoopla and the 7 mile, cross country Burrator Horseshoe Run.

One of the most colourful days at the quayside at Morwellham, with over 150 vintage and classic cars from local clubs across the West Country. Come and admire these amazing machines or bring your own treasured classic vehicle for FREE entry.
Okehampton Festival of Food and Drink

Previous years festivals have brought a diverse range of local food & drink producers and street food vendors to the town, including authentic Spanish cuisine, freshly made and wood-fired clay oven baked pizzas, local gourmet burgers cooked fresh on a BBQ, Real Ale from a small Dartmoor brewery, handmade goats milk chocolates and of course Devon Cream Teas. The music has been just as diverse as the food, with Wren Music’s Roots A Capella singers, West Devon Folk Choir, Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band, Jazz duo ‘One Point Five’ and Tinners Morris Dancers performing around the town, plus a music concert led by Okehampton Acoustic Club with it’s own eclectic mix of musicians including TOR BELLS local family handbell team, TROUBADOUR’S GARDEN acoustic duo, THE STRANGE & THE BEAUTIFUL full band with soulful female singer, ELAINE LIGHTFOOT vocalist and songwriter and MY BLACK HAT Ragtime and Country Blues.
