"Very special indeed. You will love the warm outdoor pool. Tor Cottage has 5 double/twin suites all to a very high quality. This luxury bed and breakfast has won many awards, and rightly so. It's a grown up treat of a place.
Just a short drive off Dartmoor, Lobhill Farmhouse is a charming B&B. We visited in October 2010 and were very impressed with the house and what Jane has done with her home. It has a very fresh Country Living feel with welcoming touches throughout. There is a ground floor double room with it's own access which is ideal for a wheelchair.
Totally Dartmoor. Small privately run bed and breakfast couldn't be more central on Dartmoor. An excellent choice for walkers. Home made evening meals in the dining room, and I know that the food is good. Dogs are very welcome to stay too. They are used to taking people 'off the road' who want to stay overnight, and then stay on for longer and longer. I'm not at all surprised.
Evelyn Waugh wrote Brideshead Revisited whilst staying here. 5 en-suite rooms, all with flat screen TV and Sky freeview channels. Views over the garden to the Deer Park. Good walking area. Castle Drogo and the wonderful River Teign are all within walking reach. Open all year round. Chagford is a just a short drive.
Old fashioned courtesy in a quiet country house. Lovely garden especially at rhododendron time. Off road parking, and an easy drive to Tavistock. The Peter Tavy Inn is just up the road for handy evening meals. Dogs by arrangement but not in the house.
The Old Vicarage's situation is as beautiful as the house. Liz and Don have three lovely boutique rooms all of which are en-suite. They have a large garden surrounded on all sides by fields where cows, sheep, Dartmoor ponies and deer graze. For visitors interested in the night skies, they are in an area of near-zero light pollution and on clear nights a fantastic number of stars/planets are visible. Guests are welcome to use the house telescope. The open moor also surrounds Shaugh Prior and there are beautiful far-reaching views from all rooms. The city of Plymouth is 6 miles away and the sea at Plymouth Sound and Penlee point can be seen from a number of rooms.
In a small hamlet away from busy traffic. Trudie has been an excellent landlady for many years. Quality bedrooms. This is a real working farm in the heart of a quiet Dartmoor hamlet where the farming family keep their horses. Free range eggs, local bacon and wonderful home made marmalade on the breakfast table.
The Old Stables is a lovely, spacious, modernised, barn conversion, with a sunny enclosed lawned south facing garden at the front and a hidden west facing enclosed courtyard at the rear. There is parking on the quiet no-through lane, and there are wonderful uninterrupted views across a wooded valley with fields beyond where cows graze for most of the day. Deer can often be seen. The property is on the edge of a lovely village with a recently refurbished pub, about 100 yards away, serving real ales and home cooked food. If you want a place to stay that truly is 'away from it all' with home from home comforts and beautiful views, then the Old Stables is just right for you!

With views all around, this is a happy family house with pets and a country living lifestyle.... Say hello to 'Chicken' the pink cockatoo, choose a good book and take a tray of tea into the garden. It's a place to relax. Legendary breakfasts cooked on the Aga. Walks up to Meldon Common with stunning Dartmoor views.
I paid a visit to Penny at Brook Farmhouse and absolutely loved it! Ancient thatched farmhouse full of charm. Homemade biscuits to have with your tea. Easy access into Exeter. I thought that it had only one bedroom on offer, but actually there are 3 bedrooms which Penny will only let to one party, so it is most frequently used just as a double. Apart from the huge main bedroom there is a spacious double and a child's bedroom, again with a double bed on offer. They share a bathroom, but it's a great space at the top of your own private, steep, charming staircase plus your own roomy guest lounge.
Bed and breakfast in one of Chagford's oldest houses with loads of character. Beams and a real fire in an inglenook fireplace. Very pretty garden with far views to Kestor Rock. Short toddle into town and 4 pubs for good evening meals.

If you can visit this country house in Spring when the primroses are out then you will be in for a treat. 2 of the 3 bedrooms are wonderfully large. There is one room that can be taken as double or a twin, and the Garden Suite has access through French Windows into the most stunning garden with your own private seating area. No need to ask if the breakfast is good when you take a look at Maddy's kitchen. She's happy to take families and you won't find a better garden for tennis or hide and seek.
