The White Hart Hotel is a traditional old posting house at the centre of the small moorland town of Moretonhampstead set within the spectacular Dartmoor National Park.
The Hotel dates back to 1639 and this historic Grade II listed building is being sympathetically refurbished to provide all modern comforts within a traditional setting. Our comfy sofa-filled lounge has a roaring log fire where you can relax and combine the delights of a traditional cream tea with the convenience of free wi-fi.
The White Hart is a free house and we stock a good range of locally brewed ales. Our back bar is traditional, cosy and inviting – with a real fire in winter – and popular with locals and guests alike. We always have at least real ales on draught:
Our current guest beers are
Yellow Hammer and Hunters Premium – from the local area
Otter Ale – from east Devon’s Otter Brewery
We usually also have a guest ale as we like to ring the changes and, as this area is blessed with an amazing number of local breweries, we are spoilt for choice!
We also stock a range of lagers – Becks Vier, Budweiser, Korev and two ciders – Revellers Orchard Pig and Thatchers Gold.
Regularly changing menu
Always seeking out the best new local suppliers, we believe in letting the quality of the ingredients speak for themselves and our chefs produce delicious yet uncomplicated dishes in a regularly changing menu.
Restaurant or bar, the choice is yours
You are welcome to eat in the restaurant or the bar – our full menu and daily specials are available in both.
And to accompany your meal…
Our wine list is as unfussy as our food and is hand-picked by hotel manager Karen Kitshoff. It offers a range of well-priced wines by the glass and bottle with plenty to choose from to compliment your meal.
Keeping it local!
At the White Hart Hotel, we are committed to using fresh, local seasonal produce wherever we can.
Meat and game are sourced from local farmers and landowners in the surrounding Dartmoor area while fish is supplied fresh from harbours and fishing villages in Devon and Cornwall.
We support the local economy and local producers wherever we can and are always happy to give suppliers’ details so you can enjoy their produce in your own home.
