Located at The Old Forge in the village of Northlew, Hof Cottage, adjacent to the owner’s home, is a delightful holiday base from which to explore the stunning landscape that makes up this part of Devon. The detached cottage, despite being compact and bijou, is well furnished and equipped. There is an enclosed courtyard for guests to sit out in and enjoy a bit of al fresco dining. The village of Northlew has a community run shop and a local pub. Local attractions include Eastcott Vineyard where you can sample award winning sparkling wines. The regional town of Okehampton, with a good range of shops and amenities is close by, and is considered the ’Gateway to Dartmoor National Park’. On Dartmoor, there are plenty of walks for all ages and abilities to enjoy this stunning and dramatic area as well as some pretty villages with pubs and tea rooms. Towards the coast, there are many fine beaches and coves including Saunton, Woolacombe and Westward Ho! A trip to Lundy Island can be arranged from Bideford pier. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. Visit the last castle to be built in England, Castle Drogo (NT). There is golf at Okehampton and Ashbury or you can hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail at Great Torrington. Shop and pub 500 yards.
