On the edge of Mary Tavy, on the side of a hill looking across a peaceful wooded valley to nearby Cholwell Brook, is Kent’s Barn, a bright, comfortable, 'upside down' cottage neatly converted from a stable block tucked behind the owners’ fine, Grade II listed house. Immediately outside, a suntrap cobbled courtyard (table/chairs) with views across the valley (perfect for evening drinks).
Inside, well decorated, light and fresh. Upstairs (stairgate), spacious, beams-to-apex, open-plan living/dining/kitchen with lots of light and lovely landscape photographs: an efficient and well-equipped kitchen area (dishwasher, microwave, freezer, larderfridge, electric oven/induction hob) at one end, a woodburner and sitting area (TV/DVD) at the other. Downstairs, hall and two bedrooms (footboards on beds) – a double (washing machine in cupboard) with en suite shower-room (suite), and a twin with en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower). A great place to come back to after a day exploring the wilds of Dartmoor or further afield.
Reviews
I really enjoyed my stay in Kent's Barn, Mary Tavy. the location was beautifully rural with the sound of the river in the background. The accommodation was very good, the locals were friendly with good eating facilities within easy reach. John & Tamsin were very friendly & welcoming & the barn was just as described. If you want peace, quiet & rural location within easy reach of many areas to visit then this is the place for you.
