About Moorview Cottage
Moorview Cottage is comfortably furnished and has everything that you are likely need during your stay. Upstairs has a large lounge with comfortable seating, TV, Freeview, DVD and Radio / CD player and good views of the surrounding countryside, in one corner is the dining area with large farmhouse type table which seats 5, adjoining the dining area and opening onto the lounge is a kitchen with full size electric cooker and microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. And there is a WC with bath with shower over and heated towel rail on this floor.
Downstairs offers 2 double bedrooms one with king size bed plus 1 twin bedded room* and an additional WC with shower and heated towel rail.
For your convenience, bed linen, towels and electricity are included in the price of the cottage.
Oil fueled central heating is also available at a small additional cost of £25 per week, if required.
Outside Moorview Cottage is set in an acre of enclosed gardens, within which is a small garden for your exclusive use
Parking Off-road parking for two cars.
During the summer months, from dawn to dusk, you will be able to see an abundance of birds including Woodpeckers, Tree-creepers, Fly-Catchers, Nuthatches, Thrushes, as well as the more familiar birds such as Tits and Finches.
The open moorland is good place to look for pheasants, kestrels, Buzzards, Owls, Foxes, Deer and Badgers.
At nearby Hillbridge you have a good chance of seeing Dippers and Kingfishers, the leat is full of small Brown Trout.
If you are really lucky you may see a Cuckoo or a Ring Ouzel up on the moor.
There are no street lights in this area, (we do supply a torch for this reason) consequently there is little light pollution. On a clear night the views of the stars and planets are exceptional.
Pets: A well behaved dog is welcome to enjoy a holiday here too they will love the lovely long walks that Dartmoor has to offer. Dogs are charged at £20.00 per week or part thereof.
Short Breaks are accepted in low season (November to February)

Please note that by signing the booking form you are agreeing to our terms & conditions, if you are found to be abusing these rules they will be requested to leave the cottage and no refund will be given.
*Although there are 6 bed spaces, we only accept a maximum of 5 people
Moorview is ideally suited to anyone wishing to enjoy walking cycling or riding over Dartmoor or exploring the local area.
Moorview Cottage is open all year around and you will receive a warm welcome when you come and stay with us
Although rural and tranquil, Moorview's location makes most of Devon and Cornwall easily accessible by car. What ever your interests there should be plenty for you to see and do.
You don't have to travel far from Moorview to have a wonderful time.
Moorview is close to Sustrans “Route 27” Cycle path, you can hire a cycle.
Or if you prefer you could go horse riding, fishing, or just take it easy.
The award winning Peter Tavy Inn which offers good food and and a collection of local ales is about a mile away (20 minutes walk back down the lane) the Elephants Nest also offers good food and local ales and is cross country hike of about 1 mile (about a 30 minute walk due to the rugged terrain) or you can drive it is 3.5 miles by car
You can walk directly onto the moors from Moorview Cottage, you can walk up onto the moors and visit Boulters Tor, White Tor or Stevens Grave or go further afield. Alternatively there are some lovely riverside walks close by.
However you choose to travel, you are sure to see lots ponies, sheep, cattle and a variety birds and plants.
There is off road parking for two cars. From the car, walk up a slight incline on gravel path to the front door of the cottage. You will find 2 steps up into the cottage with a small raised weather board (threshold) into the entrance hall. Once inside there is a carpeted floor and low beamed ceiling (approximately 6ft 3" high). The cottage layout is one of an upside-down house and all three bedrooms and one shower room are downstairs. The first room you come to downstairs is the shower room with a small step up into the shower tray. There are two steps of different depths as you come to the main corridor with all bedrooms leading off it. In order to access the first floor rooms you will need to climb four steps up to a 1/4 landing followed by another seven steps up to a level corridor, which leads to the bathroom W/C. There are a further 2 steps into the lounge area with dining area and separate kitchen all on the same level. The kitchen, shower room and bathroom each have tiled floors, the rest of the cottage is carpeted.
