The Oxenham Arms Hotel and Restuarant Home of the Neolithic South Zeal menhir, this 13th-century former Benedictine monastery is said to be the oldest heritage pub in Devon and Cornwall. Wild Birds of Dartmoor Photography Workshop The workshops will be within the Dartmoor National Park in Devon, England, using Acorn Lodge as a base and will be for all levels of photographers who want to learn real wildlife photography. The photography workshop package includes as much as possible to help you learn and improve all the aspects of being a wildlife photographer from using your camera, through the picture taking process, to the end image and post production workflow. National Trust - Castle Drogo The National Trust property Castle Drogo is at Drewsteignton where the Gardens are open all year. Do see the gardens in the Autumn when they are full of rich colour. There is an interesting seed collection day each year, when the Castle gardeners explain how to do just that later on in the year. You need to bring envelopes! Find the date on my what's on page. Castle Drogo is situated high above the Teign Gorge. It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens for self-made millionaire Julius Drewe. It looks ancient, but this remarkable building was only constructed 100 years ago, the last castle ever built in England. From the beginning it has suffered from water penetration and is now undergoing a 5 year conservation project that will last until 2017 to make it watertight.
